Services: Stage 4 Design

Innovate Heat were appointed to deliver a Stage 4 detailed design for a leisure centre ASHP retrofit project. This leisure centre retrofit shall replace legacy heating systems with external air source heat pumps to transition the facility to all-electric. A centralised cascade controller shall control the heat pump, circulating LTHW to an external thermal store that serves several internal plant rooms. Through new plate heat exchangers and upgraded circulation pumps, the primary loop distributes heat across the building's radiator network, DHW cylinders and emitters within the leisure facilities. 

To accommodate the new electrical load from the heat pump units, circulating pumps, and fan heaters, a new substation shall be installed alongside resized internal distribution boards. System operation shall be managed by a new central BMS featuring a graphical interface for space heating schedules, localized zone overrides, and automated domestic hot water legionella purges.
