High Temperature Air to Water Heat Pump Solution

This commercial-scale decarbonisation project aims to eliminate on-site fossil fuels by replacing legacy gas boilers with an all-electric, 1.6MW two-stage cascade heat pump system. To efficiently deliver high-temperature space heating to the building's existing secondary distribution circuits, the engineering design utilises external air source heat pumps working in pairs to feed low-grade heat into a buffer vessel. This is then piped into the internal plant room, where high-temperature water source heat pumps elevate the water temperature to charge a large thermal store.
Some emitters shall be upgraded including gas-fired heaters which will be replaced with modern, low-temperature hot water fan convectors. The central spill & fill expansion unit and secondary distribution pumps shall also be updated. The existing electrical infrastructure shall be modified to manage the increased electrical load.
